There are many types of libraries, therefore there are just as many types of librarians.  I am a Youth Services Librarian.  I spent several years as an English teacher to decide to work with promoting early literacy development.  I went to graduate school to study librarianship and to establish a foundation for my new career as a Children’s Librarian.  I love what I do and I am looking forward to everything I do throughout my career.

If you are interested in becoming a librarian or want to understand librarianship I recommend reading what the American Library Association says about Becoming a Librarian.

Wikipedia also can be perused for information on the title Librarian.

The Library Journal article How To Become a Librarian and the updated version How To Become a 21st Century Librarian are both great sources on what it means to be a librarian.

These above are only a few of a plethora of sources related to being a Librarian and Librarianship.
