  • Execute youth events, activities, and services outside of the library for the local school district, community organizations, the City of Ventura, and the County of Ventura.

  • Collaborate with the local schools, preschools, and community organizations in providing library inreach which includes but isn’t limited to library tours, events, or storytimes.

  • Interview, select, and appoint personnel and as a part of onboarding, provide or coordinate new staff training.

  • Instruct, train, supervise and evaluate technical and clerical staff in all areas of the library with a focus on youth services.

  • Manage the youth materials budget and stay within budget limits when ordering centrally for the system and with the Friends of the Library materials allocation.

  • Schedule, plan, and present, the early literacy workshop, “Read Me a Story & More” for parents/caregivers of children 0-5 years of age.

  • Prepare a yearly budget proposal for youth services funding to the Ventura Friends of the Library and oversees all spending of the approved budget for entire Ventura Region.

  • Take an active role in the Children’s Action Team, the Children’s Services Team, the Web Team, the Branch Supervisor Team, Ventura Unified School Librarians Committee, and Storyfest Committee meetings.
