PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

After graduate school and starting a new position as a librarian continuing education is the next step in professional growth. There are a number of options to consider. As an alumni of the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s SLIS program, the first place to turn would be the continuing education choices offered there.  Of course UW-Madison isn’t the only institution that offers continuing education options.

While working three years, the one or more of the options can be pursued.  After three years of experience in a public library position which has to include supervisory and administrative duties,  The Certified Public Library Administrator program is another option.  The CPLA certification and the others above aren’t the only options for professional growth.  Webinars, conferences, and MOOCs.
